Minutes of Board Meeting November 9, 2009

Call to order: 6:00 PM
Present: Directors: Jim Sims, John Miele, Steven Kraft, John Statler, Tommy Larson, Augustine Colebrook, and Robin E. Brown.
The minutes of the October 16, meeting were read and approved.
Old Business:
Annual Meeting – The Board approved unanimously sending notice of the January 13, 2010, 6 to 9 PM Annual Meeting of the Co-op to our owners at the Medford Library, as an attachment to the loan letter. John Miele reported that the Library location of the meeting will be free of charge, but we have to post a $100 deposit. The Notice will include the amendment to the Bylaws submitted to allow Notice of Owner meetings to be both by email or posting in a newspaper of general circulation.
Augustine suggested getting news of the Grilla Bites November 22d 3-6 PM fundraiser out to the owners. It was agreed also that the flyer for the JCLAC conference on November 14 would be included. John S. agreed to do so with the letter to the owners clarifying the site selection status.
Loan Letter to Owners: Augustine reported that stuffing the loan letter envelopes will being Monday, November 16 at her office from 9 AM to 2 PM. The Board agreed to finish stuffing the loan letters at its November 16 meeting.
Jim reported that he will give the power point presentation at the JCLAC “Local Food Imperative” conference on November 14. He reported that the presentation was also given to Oregon Action on November 2d.
Jim reported that the Oregon State Employment Department economist stated that the economic impact of the Food Co-op could be as much as $6.2 million a year to the local economy.
New business:
The Mail Tribune article regarding site selection was discussed. The article left the impression that the Bear Creek site was selected, however, Foodland has not been finally eliminated as yet either. The Board unanimously agreed to send a letter to our owners clarifying this.
